Cinnamon Rolls

A few weeks ago, I made some cinnamon rolls to take camping.  Makayla loves to help me with anything in the kitchen, so naturally she joined in.  However, Daxton is just recently wanting to help me with EVERYTHING.  Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, laundry, cooking--you name it.  I got the rolls all put together and in the oven, and I turned around to this disaster.  Basically I am the best mom ever and just let them have at it for a good thirty minutes before I made them help me clean.  I don't handle messes like this one very well, but kids need this kind of thing, right?

Carter Blaine Hubbard

Well, it happened.  It finally happened.  Months and months ago I told Devin that Carter would be born in the early morning of June 24.  Nailed it.  I am so thrilled to have our sweet baby here safely.  I am even more thrilled to be done being pregnant.  Sheesh.

On Monday, June 23 I went to see my doctor.  Done.  I was done.  So done.  I think my doctor could sense that I was struggling, so he offered to strip the membranes.  Of course I jumped at the chance!  I am now three-for-three with the stripping of the membranes.  As soon as I left my appointment I started feeling like crud.  That afternoon I made Devin go for a long walk with me, even with the 95 degree heat we were "enjoying".

Once we got home my contractions were pretty severe, so I got something to eat and went to hang out in bed.  I called my mom to warn her that she would likely be getting some kids in the night and to be ready.  I was able to hang on at home in pain until about 10:00 that night.  The pain got so bad I knew it was time to go.  My mom and Casandra came down to take the kids and we were off.  We walked into the hospital and the nurses rushed me into a room (thank heavens!) and got me all hooked up to the machines and such.  I was dilated to 5 cm, and fully effaced.

Luckily, I was able to get my epidural by about 1:00 am, so I only had to suffer for a few hours.  Once we got the lovely drugs we were able to just "sleep" until it was go time.  Around 5:50 am the nurse checked me and said it was time.  We got all ready and waited for the doctor.  I pushed once to get his head out, and again to get his body out.  He was born at 6:21 am, weighed 7 pounds 15 ounces, and was 21 and 1/2 inches long.  He had a head full of hair and a squished face.  I was in love with him the second they put him on my chest.

We came home from the hospital on the 25 of June around noon.  Life has been a bit hectic since then, but we are managing.  My recovery has been great, and the other kids seem to be adjusting well.  I certainly hope it continues that way.

I love this baby more than anything.  It is amazing how that just keeps happening to me.  I can't believe how blessed I am.

The Belly

I am 38 weeks pregnant. Ugh.  Makayla asks daily when the baby is going to come out.  I wish I knew.  I really, reeeeally wish I knew.  Needless to say, I am DONE being pregnant.  The thought of going one more week with this kid is depressing.  However, at the end of the day, I only have to be pregnant for one more week.  One. More. Week.  At most.  Happy day.

Makayla likes to give the baby hugs.

Both kids are fascinated when the baby is moving.  Daxton likes to push the baby, and Makayla just likes to giggle when she feels the little movements.

The one downside to having the baby is that Daxton will lose his armrest.  Poor guy.

Parades

Tis the season!  We are approaching the 4th of July and that means fireworks and parades.  The kids are thrilled to be seeing some parades and things.  We weren't sure when the baby would come, so luckily some of the cities close by do celebrations in June instead of July.  This last weekend we went to South Ogden Days, and we were lucky enough to go with all the cousins in the Rounds family.

Makayla holding her newest cousin, Casidy.  She loves to hold this baby.  She will be a great sister in a week or two.
Hanging out waiting for some action.
These two.  These two are best friends and the worst of enemies all at the same time.
Here are all the cousins.  Cousin # 13 will be arriving any day now!  How fun it is for these kids to have cousins all close to the same age.

Sharing a Room

We put Daxton and Makayla in the same bedroom to prepare for the new baby.  Makayla got a new big bed, Daxton got her old toddler bed as his new bed, and the baby will get the crib.  Daxton has always been a great sleeper, and was never really one to get out of his bed to play.  Until now.  Sigh.  All he wants to do is jump on Makayla's bed and play with her all night long.  For the first two weeks we would go in the room in the morning to find Daxton asleep in some random spot in the room, usually on the floor.

Preschool Graduation

At the end of April Makayla graduated from her first year of preschool.  We went to the park and had a small ceremony for the six kiddos that were in the group.  We took a lunch for picnics, and then passed out graduation caps and diplomas.  The kids were so proud--but not as proud as the mommies were.

Here they are with their hats.  They thought they were pretty cool.

How do I have a child this big?  I am going to be a mess when she starts Kindergarten next year.
Here are all the little graduates.
It was a fun year.  I rotated teaching with the other moms, and it was nice to see the kids learn.  It was also nice to get Makayla out of the house for a few hours a week so she gets used to spending time without me.  She did great!

Mother's Day

For Mother's Day, Makayla's primary teachers decided to ask the kids a few questions about their moms.  Makayla had the cutest answers.  I had to share so I can remember what she thought of me when she was three years old.  So precious.

My mom is bigger than three years old.

Her hair is brown and her eyes are blue.

My mom likes to wear dresses.

She loves to eat broccoli.

She is smart because she knows how to drive.

Mommy always tells me, "no, no!"

It makes mommy happy when I play the piano.

If she could go on a trip she would go to the zoo with me and my brother and my family and take a bottle of juice for me.

I really love it when my mom does music.

If I could, I would give my mom a candy cane for me and my mom.

My favorite thing about my mom is to give her loves.
