Ragnar

Ragnar on the Wasatch Back was June 21-22.  It basically tried to kill me, but we made it.  You have a team of 12 runners.  Each runner takes 3 legs--meaning you run 3 different times over a 200 mile span. We started in Logan at like 6:00 in the morning, and finished the following afternoon.  Our team finished in just over 30 hours.

We started so EARLY!  We met our team at 4:30 Friday morning to get to Logan.
When someone else on the team was out running, we cheered them along from the car and got them water.
Taking off after grabbing the baton.  My first leg was just under 5 miles and mostly up hill :/
I averaged roughly 8 1/2 minute miles for my first leg.  I wish that leg had been my longest because I had so much energy to start off.
Devin's first leg was over 7 miles on a dirt road and downhill for the first five miles.  We were stuck in traffic (an ambulance held things up--people can't drive and there was an accident on a dirt road where we were driving about 10 MPH.  Morons.) so Devin ran the first five or so miles without any water or help.  Oopsie!!
Our team after we had all run our first legs (about 40 miles collectively).  Our second legs were in the Morgan Valley from the top of Trapper's Loop until the top of East Canyon.  The leg was rough for me.  It was about 4 1/2 miles, but I was just tired.  It is hard on the body to run several miles, jump in a car, then run several miles a few hours later with little sleep and little food.

After our second legs (we finished about midnight) we went to a high school to sleep.  We got there after 1:00 and were awake by 4:00 to go run again.  Needless to say, my body wanted more sleep after that much exercise.

My third leg was beautiful.  I started just at the top of Jordanelle so the scenery was awesome.  I started around 9:00 in the morning, so it wasn't hot or cold.  The only trouble was I was running downhill for like 4 miles, and then ran 2 or so more on flat.  Most runners love going down, but I don't like it.  It hurts my joints and I tend to get side aches when I run down.  I actually prefer uphill.  By my last mile I was shredded.  My back was bothering me, and I was to the point that I never wanted to run ever again.  Good times.
After Devin had finished his final leg.  We were thrilled to be done.
Van one after we all finished running.  (Left to right) Devin, Leslee, Shannon, Charee, Shawn, and Dave.
After we finished we went to Panda Express in Park City.  Food has never tasted so good.  See that giant plate of food?  I ate every bite of it in about five minutes.
We were so tired, but had to wait for the other van to finish running to the stadium.  Devin got cozy on the bench at the restaurant.
Waiting for the other Van at the stadium.  It was bright and windy.  Once the wind died down we were all melting.
Yep, this is how you sleep at Ragnar.  Wherever you can lay down :)
After we got our medals.  Happy!
Our entire team after we crossed the finish line together.

Every time you pass someone while running you get a "kill".  We each kept track of our kills then added them to the side of the car.  These are the kills for Van One.  Basically, we killed it!

Stinkin' Crawler

AHHHH!!! Daxton is crawling, and I am not prepared.  How did we get to this?  Where did my baby go?  Honestly, how does the time go by so quickly?

Our little guy started crawling around nine months.  He had about two days of rocking back and forth while on his knees before he took off.  Makayla did that for about a month before she actually crawled, so I figured I had more time.  WRONG!  Daxton is all over the house.  Sigh.  What is a mommy to do?

 And we're off!

 To the plant....

yummy....

So proud!

Half time....

And we are off again....

Hmmm....a vent.

Got it!!

His favorite thing to do is to run away from me while I am trying (key word here) to change his diaper. I love that he gets so excited and giggles so hard, but it can get messy....if you know what I mean ;)

We get a lot of garbage tipping.  Gross.

And of course, he wears himself out exerting all that energy.

Hair Cut

One of the adjustments of having a boy after a girl was realizing Daxton needed haircuts.  He wasn't born with a lot of hair (Makayla was a monkey) but it grew in fast.  I have given him a couple trims just using scissors, but this time we had to go for the buzz cut.  He just had too much hair to trim with scissors.  I don't know what my deal is, but I get sad when I have to give the kiddos hair cuts.  I guess it is just another sign that they are growing :(

It wasn't too long, right?  (haha, holy hair!!)

He wasn't sure about those clippers coming at his head.

Devin had to hold him down while I did the cutting.  Dax did pretty well.

 :(

Seriously, how am I already giving my baby hair cuts on a regular basis??

Ah, the finished product.  Next time it will be a little longer on top, but this is great for the summer.

Water Park Fun

The other day Devin worked 17 out of 24 hours, and ten of those hours were during the night.  Luckily, the next day after he slept a couple hours (poor guy!) we were able to go to Salt Lake to Seven  Peaks.  Makayla loves water.  She is like a little fish.  This was Daxton's first real experience with water, and he didn't seem too interested.  He was unhappy to be there, he was just there.  That seems about par for the course for him.  Just chill.

 Can't wait to get there!

Daddy got him all covered with sunscreen.  It was a hot day.

This little thing could not wait to get into that pool.

 My sweet little thing.

This is about how he looked the entire time.  When he was out of the water he had his head down on my chest.  Sleepy guy.  I wasn't complaining though.  I hardly ever get snuggles anymore, so
I was enjoying myself.

After a kid ran by and splashed him in the face.  Just sat there--again!

Hanging out with his handsome daddy.

We had fun, even if we hung out in the kiddie pools all day.  Devin took Makayla down one big slide, and then the kids were exhausted so we took them home.  Love family days.

Ninjago Cake

I am not familiar with Ninjago, but apparently it is huge with the young boys.  A friend asked me to make this cake for her son's birthday party--which we totally ripped off from the internet, but I am not creative enough to come up with this on my own!  This cake was interesting, but it turned out.  The more cakes I make the easier it gets.  I wonder what my next creation will be?

Endless Yard Work

When we bought our home it came with a large chunk of land.  Let's just say a big portion of that land was infested with weeds.  Over the last few years we have completed some major projects.  This year our focus was fire pit and wood chips.  Last year I built my square foot garden boxes, which I love.  Last year we also put down some sod and built a new bridge to go across the creek.  This year we loaded a truck with wood chips twice to put around the garden boxes and the new fire pit.  It was a ton of work, but the end result is great.  Let's roast some mallows sometime!

Sleepy Time

This is one of the best things about motherhood.

Who would not LOVE waking up to that little smile?  I am so grateful I am blessed with children.  My family is without a doubt the greatest blessing I have.  I love this baby so dearly.  He makes my life better just by being in it.
