Baby Chicks

Makayla LOVES when we go to IFA in the Spring, because she gets to see the baby chicks, ducks, and bunnies.  She had a blast helping me pick out the right plants for our garden, but then we topped off our outing by hanging out with the baby animals.  I was her best friend that day!

She would love to bring one of those baby bunnies home.  They are so cute and fluffy.

Stinky little things!  She kept calling them little chickies.
She would love to take some of them home, too!

Daxton's eyes were locked on the baby ducks.  What a fun little outing.  I got what I needed, and the kids loved every second of it.  Now why can't grocery shopping be that way??

More Baking

I've been making lots of cakes lately.  My neighbor came to me with a picture of a cake she had in mind, and asked me to make a cake for her daughter who was graduating high school as the Valedictorian.  This cake was my Everest.  I was so nervous, because I have never been paid to make a cake before, I've just always done it for fun.  However, I was thrilled with the finished product.  I guess I am more capable than I thought!  What a fun cake.  I'm glad I made it.  It helped me realize that I can try some harder cakes and be successful.

These cakes were just for a ward luau.  It was a fundraiser for the Young Women and Young Men.  Devin signed me up to make some cakes for the bake sale, so this is what I came up with.  I found the idea for the beach scene cupcakes on Pinterest, and the Pineapple just kinda happened.  If you had asked me five years ago if I would end up decorating cakes as a hobby I would have laughed at you.  Strange how I've changed so much in just a few short years.

9 Months

Seriously, I just posted about Daxton at 8 months old.  I need to learn how to freeze time.  I feel like I am missing his baby stage, and I am with him like 95 percent of the time!  This boy is learning so fast, and he is growing like a weed.

When Mommy Has a Wedding

Makayla is usually a good little helper when I have a wedding (and I have had a LOT lately).  However, if the wedding stuff is not placed out of reach, it becomes a problem.  Makayla can't handle bright, shiny things just setting in a pile waiting to be washed and put away.

See that lump?  That would be my little Stink Bug.

 There she is!

She just ran through the overlays and giggled for about 15 minutes straight.

Then she threw Daxton into the mix...

 Cute boy!

These two play so well together.  We rarely have any tears (from Daxton, who is usually the one taking the beating...)

Call Wedding

Just wanted to show a few pictures of the wedding I did this last weekend for my cousin, Skyler and his new wife, Kenzie.  The Call's backyard was so pretty.  You can definitely see Kenzie's personality coming through those colors--it was so cute.  I enjoyed decorating, and I think it turned out well.  Now onto the next wedding in two weeks!

8 Months

Sigh.  What is a mom to do?  This little fella is over 8 months old already.  Mother's Day was yesterday, and I just can't imagine my life without my kids.  I am so blessed to have them.  Motherhood is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me, and I wouldn't change one single thing about my life.

Cakes

My Sister-in-law Alyssa asked me to make a cake and a smash cake for her daughter's first birthday this last weekend.  We went to the Zoo for her birthday, so I thought an animal cake would be fun.  I have decided that I just like to create things.  I like painting and changing things in my house, I like baking (cakes especially), and I just love turning old things into new things by refinishing them.  I was up into the wee hours of the morning making these cakes (I had NO time the day of the party since we had so many things going on) so it is amazing they turned out at all.  Fun!

Cousin Time

Makayla has two cousins on the Hubbard side: Bentley and Reese.  Bentley is 8 months older than Makayla, and Reese is 2 and 1/2 months older than Daxton.  Makayla and Bentley have become good little friends, which is great.  Last Saturday we went to Nikki and Brady's house to celebrate Reese's first birthday.  These two crazy girlies got a hold of some cupcakes.  Yum!

The Zoo

Last Saturday we went to the Zoo for a few hours with Makayla's cousin, Aubree for her birthday.  Do I even need to say Makayla had a good time?  She loved every second of it!  She seems to really enjoy animals, so for her to see them in person was a BIG deal.  Her smiles were absolutely priceless.

She loved the baby elephant.  She kept picking up dirt in her trunk and throwing it.
Makayla thought it was great.

This little fella just hung out the whole time.  Never made a peep.  Gee, I love him!

 Cousin Aubree.  The birthday girl!

We caught a beautiful day!  Sun shining, blue skies, mid 70's....just the way I like it!

 Where is Daxton?

 There he is!

While seeing the giraffes, Makayla had to use the potty.  I ran her in the giraffe house, and on our way out the baby giraffe came in the house to get a drink.  When we turned around to check out the baby, he lifted his tail and pooped.  The rest of the day Makayla talked about how her favorite part of the zoo was when the baby giraffe pooped on the ground.  The things kids remember.
