9 Weeks To Go

Well, folks, we are into single digits!  I officially have less than 10 weeks of being pregnant, and likely even less since my body likes to get those little babies out.

Just a little bit about this pregnancy...

*I have craved nachos and strawberries.
The first 25 weeks of pregnancy I ate nachos a few times a week.  I was nervous about gaining a ton of weight though, so I cut the baby off from nachos.  It was hard.  He wanted his nachos.  The last few weeks I have been eating almost a pound (yes, a pound) of strawberries a day.  Funny how I have gained less weight lately.

*I didn't get any morning sickness.

*I am carrying this baby higher than the others.

*The baby moves at night.  Sometimes I lie awake for an hour or so in the middle of the night because he is moving so much.

*I am beginning to swell in my ankles and feet.  The other night Devin asked me what the weird indent was on my leg.  I told him it was my ankle bone.  Yep.  Got to love summer babies.

*My maternity clothes are getting tight.  So exciting.  I love when you get too fat for your 'fat' clothes.

*The baby kicks a lot when Daxton is laying on my tummy.  Daxton pushes back in anger sometimes.

*I think about running every single day.  I miss it terribly.

*My belly button is poking out, and it takes me about two minutes to roll over in bed.  Devin laughs at me on a daily basis.

*I am still wearing my wedding ring.  I made it to the end with the others, so here's hoping.

Easter

The Saturday before Easter we took the kids to the South Ogden Easter Egg Hunt.  We have done that of the last three years, and the kids have enjoyed it.  Basically hundreds of kids run out into a field to each grab about 10-20 eggs (however many they can get those grubbies on) and the whole thing is over in about one minute.  Fun times.

Get ready...

get set ...

and go!

Ta-da!
(Is it just me, or does her face make you laugh?  It kills me!)

Devin helped Daxton since the kids were in different age groups this year.

We plunked down in the field with cousins and Grandma Sylvia to check out the loot.  Guess what they got the most of?  Taffy.  Happiness! NOT. I hate taffy.  Good thing Easter is over so we don't have anymore candy in our house.  I dislike candy holidays.
(Wait...isn't that like every single holiday?)

After the kiddos played on the play ground for like an hour, a balloon guy wandered over near us.  Naturally, all the kids "needed" a balloon animal.  Good think Uncle Ryan had a few bucks in his wallet!

Daxton's animal lasted a whole four minutes!

The next morning was Easter.  Makayla came in our room about 6:30, and I thought we were in trouble.  However, she crawled into the bed with us and never mentioned Easter.  When it was about ten minutes to 8:00, I quietly mentioned that the Easter Bunny had probably come to visit.  Boy, that got her attention quick.  We told her she had to wait for Dax, so she quickly ran in a woke him up.
It took him about two seconds to get excited and run down the hall.

Isn't his face cute?

Ah, the Easter Bunny didn't disappoint.

How did the Easter Bunny put Frozen into a giant egg balloon?
(Trust me, it was tricky!)

That silly bunny hid eggs all over the place.  Good thing those little spying eyes found them all!

She was desperate to get that movie out of the balloon egg, so I told her she needed to stab it with something.

 So she did.

Happy Easter!

Coloring Eggs

On Monday for Family Home Evening we decided to color some Easter eggs.  Needless to say, the kids LOVED it.  Maybe that is an understatement.  Let's just say Makayla has asked about six times a day when we get to color eggs again.  I figured four dozen would be plenty for them.  Sheesh.

Here they are with the supplies.  I found a pin on Pinterest that said I could use Kool-Aid instead of food coloring and vinegar.  It was just grand!  You just put one packet into like 1/2 cup of hot water.  It smelled heavenly, the eggs colored nicely, and we didn't make any messes with food coloring.  I took the kiddos to the store that afternoon and let them pick out 11 packets.  We used ten for coloring eggs, and one to drink.

Daddy helped them pour out the packets, and I helped them stir it all together.

Do you think they enjoyed the juice?  I'm not sure you can even call it juice.
More like sugar-water.  It is a very rare occasion when my kids have sugary drinks, so they gulped it down.  Makayla has also been asking to make more juice since Monday.
I will have to avoid the Kool-Aid aisle at the store for a while.

The first colored egg.  They were excited.

Daxton really liked the green ones.

Most of the packets gave us vibrant colors, but yellow was not the best.  I started dipping my eggs into multiple colors to see what I would end up with.  Makayla quickly adapted my method, which meant she was combining greens with reds to make some lovely brown shades.  Funny girl.

She (of course) became very independent and wanted to do it all by herself.  She did pretty well.  We only had a few spills.  Good thing I put her in my T-shirt for the evening.  Daxton refused his, which means his laundry will be fun.

Aren't the colors nice?  I am converted.  I will do Kool-Aid every year from here on out.

I love the permanent juice mustache she had the entire night.

I guess next year I will have to get more eggs, and then just eat them for breakfast and dinner for two weeks straight.

It was a fun night as a family.  These are the moments that I cherish.  I am certain that I will look back at these pictures and miss my little babies.  Being a mother is just so rewarding.  There will always be time for a career, but my children will only be children once.

The Farm

This last weekend we were invited by some friends to go Brigham City to ride a horse.  Our friends, John and Sherri, have family living up there that house their pet horse for them.  Makayla was really excited to go, and it was fun to see some of the animals, and to be that close to a horse.

Makayla liked the baby cows.  Sherri said we would have to come back sometime and feed them bottles of milk.  Makayla keeps telling me how fun it would be to feed baby cows, so we might have to plan another time to head back soon.

Daxton got a kick out of the big cows, and the horses making noises.  One of the bigger cows peed while we were standing there, and Makayla was absolutely amazed at how much liquid came out.  Too funny.

Looking at the babies.

There was even a pond on the property.  Makayla wanted to go for a ride in the paddle boat, but it was full of water from previous rain.  Another time, maybe.

Love.

This boy had a great time.  He loved everything we saw, and was excited to learn new things.

And what farm would be complete without a trampoline?  The kids were kept busy while the horse was being saddled.

Naturally, Daddy makes everything more fun.

Here we are meeting the horse, Kate.  Makayla touched her, and loved on her, but she would not get on.  The horse had a mini fit right before we were going to stick Makayla on, and after that she refused.

This kid, however, was not going to let anything stop him.
He was all smiles, and ecstatic to get on that horse.

I think he must have said, "horsey" about 500 times that day.

Daxton even got to ride around on the horse with Sherri.  He wasn't hesitant at all, and was again all smiles when he got back.

This picture says it all.

Devin is 30 and has never ridden a horse before.  Sheltered boy.  Sheltered.  I think he enjoyed his first experience.  I would have hopped on, but I figured my massively pregnant self wouldn't be able to swing a leg over.  I am sure it would have been sheer entertainment to have seen my try though.

Thanks, John and Sherri.  The kids had a blast!
