60 years!

My grandparents have been married for 60 years!  Can you believe that?  Devin and I have been married four and a half, so we are basically to 60.  Not.  To celebrate, they had a nice little open house reception, and they asked me to decorate.  It was fun, and turned out nice.

Grandma Janet and Grandpa Dan, as I would call them.  These are my mom's parents.
I still can't imagine 60 years together.  I hope I make it that long with Devin, but if I don't I still get him for eternity in the next life!
I set up a simple backdrop for them to sit in front of to greet their guests.
They never got an original wedding reception, so this was kinda fun for them.
There they are 60 years earlier.  They now have 8 kids, like almost 40 grandkids (totally guessing here) and a whole load of great-grandkids.  I think Makayla was great-grandbaby number 28, and I bet at least ten have been born since then.  Congratulations grandparents!

Happy 2nd Birthday!

My baby girl turned two.  That's right, two!  I can't believe it has been two years already.  I had to remember not to get teary eyed the day of her birthday.  I miss my sweet, tiny, new baby girl, but I love my independent, active, talkative, smart little two-year-old too.  Good thing I have a bun in the oven, because I am a wee bit baby hungry at the moment.

Makayla likes the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar, so that was the theme of her birthday.  The battery in my camera died, but wanting to be prepared, I took a back-up camera.  Wow--wouldn't you believe it?  The battery was dead in that one too.  Good planning, Leslee.  Good planning.  So these are the pictures that my mom took for me.  I wish a had more, but that is just how life goes.  You want to hear the real kicker?  Just as we were starting presents the battery in her camera died too.  What are the odds?  Guess the camera gods were against us that day.

We had a caterpillar cake, balloons, and grapes with some of the fruit the caterpillar eats through in the book.
Lots of family came from the Rounds side and the Hubbard side.
Makayla was dying to eat the cake for a whole day since I made it the evening before the party.  She was excited to sink her teeth in!
Hanging out with some of her cousins.
The kiddos ran through the sprinklers.
We had the party at Grandma and Grandpa Rounds' house.  I didn't want to deal with it at my house.  I guess I was too lazy.  Thanks grandparents for hosting!
See all that chocolate frosting?  This is the evening before the party and she kept saying, "two tomorrow!".  Very cute.  I am glad she is two.  When people would ask her how old she was, and she would respond with "one" they didn't believe her.  Now they won't second guess her--hopefully.

Long Hot Summer

So we have done a lot this summer, and I have enjoyed it even though pregnancy has made it a little miserable.  This post is more for myself than for anyone reading, because it will have a pile of pictures of some fun things we have done this summer, and if I don't get thoughts down now I won't remember what pictures go with what events.  I am about a week and half away from delivery, and I can hardly wait!  I want to get this little guy into the world so I don't have to carry him around anymore ;)  Thus, I am trying to pass the time with things like the blog.  Happy.

While we were at Lagoon a week ago, Devin's phone took a nasty spill on BomBora.  By the time we got it back it was a little shattered and a little crushed.  However, I was able to get the pictures and videos (praise the heavens above!) onto my computer still.

Makayla licking the beaters after I frosted her birthday cake.  She loved every lick.
At the water park.  This little girl is basically a seal.  She LOVES the water, and wants to do it all by herself--whether she is under the water for a minute or just walking around, it has to be by herself.
On the water slide with Aunt Alyssa (pregnant mommies can't ride water slides).
Makayla and Korbin being goofy at the park.
Camping with the Call Family up South Fork.  It was a million degrees, so we got in the river.
Grandpa helping Makayla hold the cute baby.  She is going to be a good big sister.

 Wow.  Gotta love morning hair.
Splash pad.  I bet we went ten times this summer.  Gotta love free!

Devin goes fishing quite a bit with his buddy down the street.
He gets pretty excited when he catches something.
Makayla and Korbin on the 4th of July at the Kaysville parade.
Makayla and her melting mommy on the 4th of July.  Hottest July on record you say?  Yes, that does sound like a good time to be massively pregnant. :/

This is where she gets her funny facial expressions from....

Sports

A good friend of ours gave us some free ReAl tickets, and since we are definitely RSL fans, we took full advantage of the tickets.  It was really hot, and we were in the sun for the first half which made it hard to enjoy.  Devin is a champion and went and got some cold water for me and some juice for Makayla.  I put the water bottles around my ankles and then I was good to go.  Such a good hubs :)

Ah, see that bright sun?  It made it hot!  I don't know why pregnancy has to add like 30 degrees to my thermostat, but it does.  Don't mind my puffy, pregnant lady pictures.  I try to avoid the camera, but I guess I need some pictures, right?
RSL won the game, and Makayla liked cheering for the team.  She would yell "Kick it! Kick it!"
She survived her first RSL game, and I am sure it won't be the last!

A few weeks before, we were able to go to an Ogden Raptors game with Grandma and Grandpa Rounds.  Makayla did really well during the game, especially since she had freakin' Pink Eye and we didn't know it.  Whoopsie.  No worries, she went to the doctor the next morning...
Any sport Makayla sees she usually calls baseball.  Not sure why she likes it so much, but she does.
Auggie the Raptor.  I must say, he was LAME at the game.  He didn't do anything cool, but he did stop for 2 seconds to take a picture.  He immediately walked away when we were done without any form of congeniality.  Who hired this guy?

Lagoon

Last weekend we scored some free tickets to Lagoon.  We went with Makayla's best friend and cousin Korbin with his parents (Steven and Alyssa), and Grandma Sylvia.  Since our child is massive, she is over 36" tall and could ride all the rides just before her 2nd birthday.  Most of the other kids her size on the rides were 3 and older.  Another benefit to a beefy child :)  I am not in any of the pictures, because I had set up for a wedding earlier that day, and I was gross.
5 hours of wedding + 37 weeks pregnant = gross Leslee

The first ride Dev took Makayla on was the mushroom--kinda like the mini rocket.  I wasn't sure how she would react, but she LOVED it.  She had the cutest smiles on her face the whole time.

She also like the giant octopus ride, which she called "the fishies".  The ride sprayed her a few times, which caught her by surprise, but she loved this one too.
Ah, her favorite ride that she went on like 3 times.  The cars.  These kiddos were so dang cute in that little car!
Here is Grandma Sylvia trying to wrangle the kids and put them on a ride.  The other non-pregnant adults got to go have some fun on a big ride while Grandma and I hung out with the kids.  Lagoon just isn't the same when you are pregnant.  We will have to go again next summer so I can go on some rides too!

Busy Summer

We have been really busy this summer!  First, we decided this would be the year that we would have fun with a little backyard makeover.  Let's just say, that has been a LOT of work.  My pregnant body can only take so much, so Devin has been busily working back there to make it nice.  The home had a nice yard when we bought it, but we have a bridge that goes over the Burch Creek into another segment of yard that was just a pile of weeds when we moved in.  Now it has garden boxes, fruit trees, GRASS, and soon it will have a fire pit.  I can hardly wait to finish it!  It will be Fall before we get everything in since a baby is going to throw a wrench in the plan, so I will post some lovely pictures when we get it all done.

Makayla is in love with Grandpa's truck.  We were trying to get sod down the hill, and she insisted on getting in the truck.  Such a good helper.

Next, my plan was to do a little remodeling in the kitchen.  Boy oh boy, has that been a project.  Again, my very pregnant body can only do so much!  However, I think this project derived from my need to nest.  Cabinets are painted, walls are painted, lights are torn down, and everything is almost put back together.  Again, when I am good and ready I will post some before and after pictures.  I LOVE my new cabinets!

Our cute little Stink Bug plays so well while I do all my projects, decorate for weddings, and get ready for the baby boy.  She plays will her dolly for hours, and is just a pleasure to have around.  I hope it stays that way when the baby comes!

Reading to her dolly.  She is such a little mommy.
Dolly goes grocery shopping, goes on walks, and just about anywhere else we go.

We broke down and let Makayla ride one of the gross rides at Walmart.  She got a kick out of Big Bird,  but freaked out when the ride ended and we had to go home.
