Busy Momma

So, I am the type of person that can't let things stay the same too long--especially when I am pregnant. I am a fan of rearranging furniture, painting, creating things.....you get it. Well, Makayla's room has been the same since I finished it two years ago, and I thought it was okay, but not quite up to snuff. I caught a couple of warm days, bought a new toddler bed (have to give that crib to new baby brother soon), was given an old dresser, and refinished a few odds and ends we had around the house to create this....
Her room already had the green walls below the trim, but I added the stripes. The white I used always seemed a little too white for me (I guess I am picky pants or something?) so I had to add a little more jazz. I love the way the stripes turned out. It was a lot simpler than I thought it would be, and I did it while Makayla was sleeping one afternoon. She liked it when I showed her.
My mom helped me fashion the curtains while I was pregnant with Makayla, so they have always been there. I took an old TV stand (right corner) that was black and painted it black. I then added some little curtains to hid the shelves. I put some of her toys in some drawer type things on the shelves, but I hate the unorganized look, so I had to add the curtains. It just looks cleaner :)
I still have plans to make her a comforter set with matching pillow cases and things, but I need to wait for a good sale on fabric. I think I need to stick with the pink and green theme. I saw a super cute idea on ebay, but wasn't willing to pay 80 freakin' bucks for it, so I think I will just do my best to copy it. I will have to post when I get that done. My goal is to finish before baby boy arrives this summer!
This table used to be in my classroom. It was falling apart! The top was covered in paint, crayon, pencil, marker. You name it, it was on the table--first grade people, first grade. I went through and tightened all the bolts then went to work with some paint I got for free about a year ago with some coupons. I always had plans for the free paint, but it took me a while for really decide what I wanted to do with it. Once I moved all the baby furniture into our other room, I realized there would be plenty of room for Makayla to have the table in her room, so I fixed it up. She LOVES to put her doll on one chair and she sits in the other.
Ah, the dresser. We got this beast from Devin's Grandpa. As you can still tell, the body of the dresser is very much a styling from the 50's/60's. When we got it some handles were missing and it was a hideous wood. I primed, painted, and fixed all the handles to match. I think it turned out really well, and I love that I have more space for Makayla's things. Have I mentioned I like to keep things clean and organized? :)

  1. Super cute! I can't wait until Korb has his room downstairs so we can paint it and make it his! You did a great job!
